Just don't flush any weird things down the toilet or else it will clog up the septic and it will backup into your yard. We just used regular toilet bowl cleaner and this other product which I can't remember the name of, but I think it was specifically for septic tanks. In the US, at least, it tells whether it is safe for septic tanks. Be sure to add enzymes to the tank (you flush them down the toilet) to keep it operating smoothly. Edit: Can't imagine why anyone would say NOT to flush toilet paper. I have had septic tanks most of my life and never had a qualm about sending the TP down the drain. Never had a problem!
