    Say what?!!! The Taliban almost destroyed the opium crop years ago. The CIA has been reviving it (as shown in a PBS documentary). The Taliban are against ALL drug sales because of their religious beliefs. I doubt the marines like any of this either since the US now has the highest suicide rate our military has ever seen. Unfortunately, this is what they were unknowingly sent there for. They were never told about the Trans-Afghan Pipeline or the poppy crop when they signed up to chase Al Qaida.

    Opium production has increased at least 10 fold since they overthrew the Taliban in 2001. Recently, the US told Russia, which suffers from an exploding heroin epidemic, it won’t eradicate the poppy fields. Now it seems they are finally (lightly) admitting that they are pro-drugs. What they don’t tell you is that the CIA/MI-6 profit from the trade.

    And, btw, opium for whatever purpose would not be so profitable without the black market international drug trade.
