Can my former employer remove their direct deposit from my bank account ?

My former employer just paid me today through direct deposit. Not sure if this was my last bonus check or if this was my last pay check. If this was my last pay check then they have paid me twice since I just got my last pay check as a hard copy yesterday (and it was a week late). Not sure if they will end up just taking it out of my bank account or if they will just contact me to give them that money. I’m in California, if it helps.

They will usually just do it the way you were set up to receive payments.

They will usually just do it the way you were set up to receive payments.

No, money cannot be withdrawn from your account without your consent. However, it it is an error on the part of the bank and they made a double entry, that error may be corrected removing the funds from your account even if that places you into a negative balance.
