I have ran out of hay and the pasture grass is not growing yet so I am feeding grain. Its actually "sweet feed" which is a mixture of oats, alfa alfa pellets, and crushed corn pieces.

Why are different breeds used for cattle herding but almost always border collies used for sheep herding?

What makes one breed exceptionally good at cattle herding and another better at sheep herding?
Thanks for all the answers. To clarify, I’ve seen several breeds (including border collies) being used as working cattle dogs, but I very rarely see anything but border collies used with sheep.
